Amazon.com Product Description

Offering all the benefits of the Intex Raised Downy airbed but with the added advantage of lighter weight and mid-rise height, the Intex Pillow Rest inflatable airbed is ideal for travelers who want the comforts of a bed but the convenience of a blow-up mattress. The Pillow Rest is equipped with a quality-tested, 20.8-gauge, waterproof flocked top, along with 15-gauge vinyl beams and 16-gauge sides and bottom. The resulting surface is comfortable and secure, whether you're sleeping at the in-laws' overcrowded house or setting up a guest bed in the basement. In addition, the Pillow Rest is remarkably easy to inflate thanks to the built-in, high-powered electric pump, which does its job in a mere three minutes. No more fussing with tiring hand or foot pumps or rummaging through the garage for your detached electric pump. And should the mattress feel a little too soft or firm, you can customize the comfort level with the touch of a button.

The Pillow Rest is raised 17.5 inches from the floor, making it far taller than most inflatable mattresses, and includes built-in pillows for added comfort. And at 40 by 19.5 by 80 inches (W x H x D), the mattress is an official twin size, making it a good fit for fitted sheets. The Pillow Rest--which offers a capacity of 300 pounds--comes with an AC power cord, a shoulder strap, and a duffel bag. It's also backed by a 90-day limited warranty.

My wife and I were in need of an air bed. I had surgery on my leg this week, and it was decided that I'd have our regular bed to myself for a few weeks. So we needed a place for my wife to sleep, as several weeks on the sofa isn't a great idea. So I set out looking for an air bed. We didn't know one brand from another, so it came down to reviews and price.

There seemed to be two sticking points with people. First, did the thing come with a pump, and how did it feel? Price too to a lesser extent. I did notice that some beds do not come with a pump, and you're looking at an additional $25 on average for a decent sized pump. We were looking for something decent, I didn't want the cheapest one imaginable, but I wasn't looking to break the bank either.

So I happened upon this one. After reading the reviews, I decided to take the plunge. My wife has slept on it for a couple of nights, and has said it is OK. I think that's what most people here who... Read more

I live in a smallish one bedroom apartment and have frequent visits from out-of-town friends and relatives, so I have a pretty significant need for temporary beds. When set up, the temp bed is right in the middle of the living room, so I need to deflate and store a temporary air bed on a daily basis when guests visit. Unfortunately this is a nightmare endurance test for air beds as the frequent compression and folding of the unit for storage along with the periodic inflation and deflation is a formula for a shortened air bed lifespan.

There are two significant names in makers of at-home air beds: Aerobed and Intex. (Coleman seems to be targeted more for camping use and their beds by most accounts seem to be cheaper and less comfortable than these other two more residential brands.) Aerobed costs three to four times more than comparable Intex products, and it may not surprise you to hear that the Intex also offers significantly lower quality along with the lower cost... Our Guest room overflowed and we needed an extra bed. This was GREAT. Inflates fast and easy and is very comfortable. Stores away like a small suitcase. Twin sheets fit well. Very happy with the product and it will get a lot of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleepsaver for camping, June 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Intex Fabric Camping Mattress (Sports)
I bought this for a camping trip in yosemite. I cannot sleep on the ground and I wanted a mattress that wouldn't take up half a tent since we had 3 people in a tent. This mattress helped me get so much more sleep than the other guys in our tent. Also it was better at keeping me warm as opposed to sleeping on the cold ground. Best of all it was $100 cheaper than most camping air mattresses, which seems ridiculous to me to spend that much money on a camping mattress. The only caveat to this mattress is that the nozzle is not the most robust, it's just a typical pool inflatable nozzle that can pop open if the nozzle is wet. I just put some duct tape over it and it was fine. You'll also need a flatter piller to put on top of the inflatable pillow

took this little mat on 7 day hiking/canoing/camping trip to the boundary waters. my wife and i slept well on the mat. the only reason it didn't get a 5 star is the airvalve is like a pool float valve and inflation and deflation could be easier.

I ordered two mattresses. They arrived quickly in good condition. My wife and I use these air mattresses to augment our folding futon couch, one on each side of the fold and the are working out very well and comfortable. We use them daily and they have held their air for over 2 weeks. Great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vertical beam build seems to be the most stable., March 25, 2010

As one reviewer wrote, if you put 3" of foam padding on this mattress you can have a mattress that exceptionally comfortable. I have tried at least 4 air mattresses in the last 2 months and I found only this kind with the vertical beams are stable, comfortable and motionless like a coil mattress. And provide the firm comfort and stability that I need. I am guessing this mattress is just the same as the Intex that come with a pump and another comes with so called camping pillows. I had a similar build air mattress I bought from a store with the verical baffles close together and it lasted me 18 months before finally losing a seam. If this works well and continues to hold air well I will order at least one more to store away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Short term use ONLY !!, January 16, 2011

This review is from: Intex Classic Downy Queen Airbed (Sports)
Well, I've had this airbed for 2 1/2 months (to replace a Coleman that only lasted a few months also - which was to replace a Coleman that had lasted for years - Coleman's quality has apparently went WAY down).

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, in the middle of one of the vertical wave beams, one section became detached, and caused a 'lump' to appear. I thought "uh-oh, now I'll have a leak" - but no, no leak. Within a couple days tho, more sections in that column detached, and soon the whole column was a BIG LUMP. Well, that made for an inconvenient sleep, cause it 'forced' me to one side of it during the night.

Now, as of about 4 a.m. this morning, the bed went flat - so now there is hole somewhere.

I went to Intex's website, and they plainly state "No Warranty".

So, now I have a rectangular plastic pancake - but at least it's a cheap pancake :)

I may have to start a museum - I have 2 Colemans that are flat (the newest one... Read more

We used it twice for camping. On the second time, it went flat on us. We haven't used it in any exceptional or extreme way, just a very moderate use of sleeping inside a tent. Maybe it's a defective unit but I'm not going to buy a new one to find out. This one is going back to the store and I will invest a little more to get a quality brand next time.
